Making memories with the help of classical music, on the way to understanding memory.

The contemporary classical music of Milan-born Federico Albanese is traditionally beautiful and lyrical. The composer respects the old with a nod to the new, reaching into psychedelia, ambient and pop structures. This approach makes the work theatrical, but consumable and soundtrack-like: it could be the background music for everyday life full of emptiness while it could also be a good fit for a grey coming-of-age story on screen. No surprise that the Berlin-based virtuoso (who has also composed music for Louis Vuitton and Hugo Boss shows) has written the score for several films.

Within his own scene, his works have been floating confidently but gently since the beginning, but the sensitive - and sensual - final product matured and truly coalesced on the 2022 album (which he will showcase in the Hungarian capital during early spring). On Before And Now Seems Infinite Albanese slaloms through the byways of time and memory, opening the memory gates most accurately described by French literary legend Marcel Proust, turning onto the highway of understanding opened by the music.

Location

A38 Ship

Converted from a coal-mining ship, the A38 is easily Budapest's most unique concert venue. The belly of the ship has been home to a wide range of live and electronic music for almost 20 years, and when it's full you can feel the rhythmic movement of the partygoers making waves in the Danube. Foreign acts often refer to it afterwards as their favourite club.
