Áron Tálas, the outstanding pianist of the young Hungarian generation by European standards, is one of the few exceptions who write and play music deeply rooted in tradition, yet whose qualities make him a place in BMC Records' catalogue of mainly modern productions. This is Tálas' second trio album with the label, featuring groove-laden, melodic and emotional tracks that represent the best of the traditional jazz piano trio world.

The title New Questions, Old Answers is a clear indication that this time Tálas is not breaking with his predecessors. Brian Blade, Roy Hargrove, Joshua Redman, Brad Mehldau, the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Erik Satie, Carpathian Basin tunes - this list is just the surface of the bottomless well from which the pianist-composer draws inspiration. But it is not the voices of these artists that are heard on this album, but rather the unadulterated serenity, the chirpy humour and optimism of Áron Tálas, which shines through even in the melancholy. Moreover, we are witness to the resonance of three musicians and good friends of similar qualities.
