Bettika graduated from the LFZE in 2022 with a degree in jazz singing. She also works with improvisation, free music, theatre music, mantra singing, is a voice teacher, yoga instructor and holds workshops. Her ensemble, the Bettika Quintet - winner of the Müpa Jazz Showcase 2021 Professional Grand Prize - creates a powerful individual sound world of jazz, free improvisation, world music and contemporary poetry.
Their first album, 2022 Water, consists mainly of original compositions, including a number of poetic settings: music rooted in jazz, with elements of jazz poetry or spoken word, whose rhythms and lyrics are based on works by Hungarian poets (Dezső Tandori, Ede Tarbay, Ágnes Nemes-Nagy). The album also includes pieces that can be classified as world music, mainly arrangements of Hungarian and Gypsy folk tunes, which bring exciting colours to the concert programme with their complex rhythms and dramatic character. The original pieces without lyrics give room for free improvisation and playing with the musical framework.
Their latest material, to be released in 2023, is entitled [Tutaj] - Here, a contemporary cross-section of poems by Nobel Prize-winning Polish poet Wisława Szymborska. The album also features multiple slam poetry champion Kristóf Horváth Színész Bob.
