Schedule
The first half of the eighties was the heyday of alternative, underground art on the border between "tolerated and forbidden" in Hungary. Mihály Víg, who founded the Balaton ensemble in 1979 with his friend Károlly Hunyadi, is a leading representative of this era. He was also a pillar member of the Trabant band, which was formed later and only existed for a few years, but is still a legend. Mihály Víg has also written many film scores, among others for Ildikó Szabó, András Szirtes and János Xantus. He became a regular composer for Béla Tarr and even played the lead role in Sátántangó.
In the portrait film he talks in great detail and in a very personal way about his life, the atmosphere of the time, the influential people associated with alternative culture and his relationship with them. We learn about his working methods, his thoughts on literature, music, film and the world.
In this film, which includes many never-before-seen archive footage and music, we can get closer to Mihály Víg and the last sixty years through his life and the stages of his creative career.
