Schedule
ISOLATION BUDAPEST II is coming!
Nick Hakim, Wu-Lu, COUCOU CHLOE, Cosmo Pyke, Pedro Alves Sousa "Má Estrela", Pom Poko, Panchiko, Danz CM fka Computer Magic, Iguana Death Cult, Chubby and the Gang, Efterklang singer Casper Clausen as the main character in The Wild Stage, Konkoi, Balla Gergely, The Night Of The Vampire, Wavy collective and Darage will be there on 14 October!
The headliner of the festival is American virtuoso Nick Hakim. Aside from the fact that Hakim has collaborated with Anderson .Paak, remixed one of his tracks BADBADNOTGOOD and has a devoted following from Erykah Badu, his 2017 album 'Green Twins' is clearly one of the cornerstones of the scene. Alongside Hakim, one of the highlights of the festival is likely to be a concert by Wu-Lu, the emerging leader of the punk-rap scene, whose latest album 'Loggerhead' was released by Warp in 2022 and whose ever-evolving, innovative sound, Miles Romans-Hopcraft, has caught the attention of Damon Albarn, and Wu-Lu, who toured Glastonbury last year, is set to headline a tour as a guest artist with Blur in May this year. One of the fashion world's hottest artists, the French-born London-based producer who co-founded the collective with Shy Girl and Sega Bodega, will finally bring his bone-chilling, strobe club anthems to Budapest for the festival, singer COUCOU CHLOE, whose mysterious, unsettling, future soundscapes caught the attention of Rihanna in 2017, who used her song Doom in her Fenty x Puma show at New York Fashion Week. Casper Clausen, lead singer of Efterklang, who performed at last year's Isolation Budapest, returns to the festival this year as the protagonist of a play in which singers and musicians become dancers and invite Isolation Budapest guests on a collective journey into a universe where the realms of pop, electronica and baroque merge.
We'll also be joined by Cosmo Pyke, the most prominent figure on the Portuguese new wave jazz scene, who brings a light jazz and two-tone fusion vibe, saxophonist Pedro Alves Sousa with his Má Estrela project and Pom Poko, a Norwegian-born group of skilled jazz musicians who approach their unparalleled pop music from a more math rock, post punk and West African musical style. Panchiko, one of the most mystical albums in the history of 2000s music, will be released in Europe for the first time in 20 years, Danz CM fka Computer Magic will bring his sci-fi infused musical and visual concept to Europe, Iguana Death Cult, one of the most prominent bands on the European garage rock scene, will be here, and Chubby and the Gang, founded by heroes of the British hardcore scene, will finally be in Budapest. The Wild Stage focuses on rediscovering intimacy and reuniting with lost souls, while incorporating pop aesthetics into the show, as Dutch Theaterkrant reviews, making it an unforgettable experience like watching an iconic MTV clip from the heyday, the likes of which are no longer being made.
In addition to the international line-up, the festival will also feature great local artists, and for the first time Isolation Budapest will feature Konkoi's atmospheric, meditative, repetitive process music, with lyrics interpreted by Gergely Balla of Platon Karataev fame. Soma Nóvé will play songs from jazz ballad master Chet Baker in The Chet Baker Special by The Night Of The Vampire, but there will also be the Wavy collective, who embrace new wave hip hop from the alternative, experimental end of the spectrum, and who embrace the authentic celebration of subcultures and music, and the indelible, incredibly noisy wasp band Darage!
Akvárium
As they describe themselves, it is Budapest's most frequented venue, which is also multifunctional. Akvárium is great for award ceremonies, afternoon coffees and, most importantly, concerts, thanks to the well-picked, cross-genre selection.
