TechnoCool - Saturday DJ sets in the dome
Start the New Year with a special art and music experience at the Gallery!
TechnoCool. New directions in Hungarian art of the nineties (1989-2001), two young DJs, Sacafunk and Noirnite, will perform sets mixing inspirational music of the nineties with contemporary compositions. During the extended opening programme, art historian Zsolt Petrányi will give a curatorial guided tour of the exhibition, while Endre Koronczi will guide visitors through the nineties in an Artist Talk.

This talk is a departure from the usual question and answer format in a neutral space. While walking around the exhibition, the artist talks not only about his own exhibited works, but also about his experiences in the nineties and his connection to different artistic ideas. Nikolett Koós, art manager and museum educator, talks to Endre Koronczi.

The nineties saw a fundamental shift in pop music. The stars were replaced by anonymous DJs, who, by combining different sound samples, gave a sense of the new, technology-permeated age, where mobile phones, MTV, personal computers and the internet were a real novelty. In the new approach of DJs, artists were inspired not only by a non-authorial approach to music and the use of pseudonyms, but also by the strange imagery of album covers, which represented a forward-looking visual concept. This time, the focus of this unusual guided tour of the TechnoCool exhibition will not be on the artworks, but on the records in the exhibition, which will give us a closer look at the unique world of the 1990s.
