There are two types of relative - the lucky relative and the unlucky relative.
But the unlucky relative who gets a lucky relative is immediately a little luckier himself.
By implication, the lucky relative who is found by the unlucky relative mentioned above will in turn be unluckier. And you can't pick and choose between relatives.
The only way we can expect our luckier relatives to think of us when necessary is if we think of our unluckier relatives. This is how luck balances out in the country.
On the other hand, asking is much easier and more pleasant than giving. Asking from a relative is not as shameful as asking from some stranger. But if you give to a relative, you're immediately criticised. Those who are not relatives. Of course, they have to live too. Besides, there are more of them. And they have their own relatives.
