Jesse (Ethan Hawke), an American guy, and Celine (Julie Delpy), a French college senior, meet on a train traveling from Budapest to Vienna. The two young people have a pleasant conversation during the trip, which leads the guy to ask the girl to spend the night with him in Vienna. Celine agrees, and the two spend the few hours remaining until morning together. Their relationship eventually blossoms into a passionate romance, but they must part ways at sunrise.
