On August 23, 2026, the fourth annual Hungarian Jazz Day/Festival will take place at the House of Music! This all-day Sunday program series pays tribute to the Hungarian jazz genre with free outdoor concerts and indoor performances—co-organized by the Hungarian Jazz Association and the House of Music. Performing on the outdoor stage will be the Debrecen Dixieland Jazz Band, the Lőrinc Barabás Quartet, the Hodek Trio, and Coltrane Legacy, with Bálint Gájer and his band closing out the evening.
The Debrecen Dixieland Jazz Band’s repertoire features their own arrangements and interpretations of popular Dixieland classics. In addition to instrumental pop and jazz, the Lőrinc Barabás Quartet incorporates a variety of styles into its program. The Hodek Trio offers a blend of precise rhythms, deep grooves, and virtuoso instrumental playing. The six-member Coltrane Legacy was formed to mark the 50th anniversary of John Coltrane’s death and has been keeping the legendary saxophonist’s legacy alive ever since. Bálint Gájer and his band evoke the classic world of swing, jazz, and rock and roll with a modern, energetic performance style and an elegant stage presence.
