DUNYHA
This international ensemble, founded by singer Ilka Kisgyörgy, performs Transylvanian folk songs while transcending traditional boundaries.
DUNYHA’s unique sound is shaped by the language of collective free improvisation, complemented by elements of doom metal, dark ambient, and punk. This musical approach creates a distinctive atmosphere: it simultaneously evokes the roots of folk music while placing it in a contemporary, experimental context, highlighting the deep psychological content inherent in folk songs.
“Untouched ears”—musicians who come from outside the tradition and can thus connect to this material in a fresh, intuitive way—play a prominent role in the band’s concept.
Members:
Ilka Kisgyörgy – vocals (RO)
Christopher Robin Cox – effects-laden trombone (USA)
Deni Omeragić – bass guitar (MK)
Áron Porteleki – drums (HU)
Ysra
The band Ysra was founded by musicians from the internationally renowned Meszecsinka and Pásztorhora ensembles, as well as singer-dancer Mária Keck, who has toured from Argentina all the way to Japan. The band has performed in Hungary, Germany, and Bulgaria, where Bulgarian National Television nominated them for the Best Concert of the Year award. Their music ranges from psychedelic and pop to various ethnic styles, all infused with their unique approach.
Location
A38 Ship
Converted from a coal-mining ship, the A38 is easily Budapest's most unique concert venue. The belly of the ship has been home to a wide range of live and electronic music for almost 20 years, and when it's full you can feel the rhythmic movement of the partygoers making waves in the Danube. Foreign acts often refer to it afterwards as their favourite club.
