Lakkshya is a formation born from the meeting of tradition and innovation. The ensemble was founded by violinists KJ Diliip and Ila Diliip (violin and vocals), with the shared aim of connecting the richness of South Indian classical music—the Carnatic tradition—with new musical directions and genres.
The band soon expanded with percussionist Sunaad Anoor, a master of the khanjira and various hybrid percussion instruments, who added complex rhythmic structures and a unique energy to the sound. Later, Diptangshu Bhowmik joined the group, whose piano and keyboard playing opened up new harmonic dimensions within the ensemble.
Lakkshya’s music is deeply rooted in the Carnatic tradition, while remaining open to contemporary and world music influences. Their concerts preserve the refinement of Indian classical music while revealing its exciting, modern face.
A special musical journey from India, where virtuosic instrumental playing, vocals, rich rhythmic textures, and creative genre crossings come together into a unique experience.
