The Chilean Subhira is one of the most exciting and innovative ensembles on the world music scene. Over more than 25 years of activity, they have released 13 albums and have become a major source of inspiration for musicians both in their home country and internationally.
Their music is a unique meeting point of the rhythmic traditions of South America’s indigenous peoples, electronic music elements, and contemporary musical thinking. Their concerts are at once meditative, energetic, and captivating, inviting the audience on a sound journey that connects continents and cultures.
The group’s founder and leader, Rodrigo Cepeda, is a recipient of the Chilean National Music Award, one of the country’s highest cultural honors. As a composer, educator, and producer, he plays a significant role in Chile’s music scene. His instruments include piano, Hammond organ, Moog synthesizer, didgeridoo, and a wide range of ethnic percussion instruments.
