27/b Szemlőhegy Street, Szemlőhegy Street Kindergarten

Saturday, May 9, and Sunday, May 10, 11:00–11:40 a.m.

Tucked away on a quiet street in Rózsadomb, this villa piques the curiosity of passersby at first glance. It was designed by the renowned Marcell Komor, who combined historicist forms with delicate Art Nouveau details. Extraordinary lives have unfolded within its walls: Colonel General Gyula Kádár once lived here, and he was arrested during the war. From 1947, the building took on a new role: it served as a children’s home for the BSZKRT until 2008, when the villa became the property of the district and has operated as a preschool to this day.

Explore the preschool from the basement to the attic with architect Dávid Smiló!

The best things to do in Budapest! Several medieval bridges connect the 2 sides of the city that give it its name: Buda and Pest. Cruising along the Danube is a great way to see Budapest in all its glory.
