Schedule
The Hungarian State Opera's youth series has set itself an ambitious goal: to introduce young and old alike to the world of opera and ballet through their literature, music, stories and characters. Dániel Mona is a music historian and has been working with OPERA for many years: she has the task of bringing together all her experience, OPERA's costumes, props and musicians, singers and dancers to tour the world with children. The first season introduced opera as a genre, the second looked at the history of eight operas and ballets in an unusual and interactive way, and the third introduced the audience to the unseen heroes of opera. This time, the focus of Mona Dani's attention will be on the vocal genres, from countertenor to mezzo to bass. The series will move to the intimate Medgyaszay Hall of the Opera House, instead of the Eiffel workshop venue.
Location
Hungarian State Opera
The Hungarian State Opera House is the only theatre in Hungary with a large company, specialising in operas and ballets. The building is one of Budapest's most important 19th century monuments. It was built in neo-Renaissance style according to the plans of Miklós Ybl. The richly decorated interior was designed by renowned Hungarian artists, including Mór Than, Károly Lotz and Bertalan Székely.
