The Barnabás Négyessy Quartet earned the right to perform at the International Jazz Day by being voted audience favourites at this year’s Jazz Showcase. The band leader founded the quartet in autumn 2022. Their programme primarily comprises their own compositions, in which intimate, melancholy melodies and energetic highlights take turns as grand, arching solos come thick and fast. They are influenced equally by modern jazz, experimental, free improvisation, rock, pop, contemporary minimalist music as well as classical and folk music.
And why does this quartet have five members? Normally, Bálint Banyó is a key member of the group, but Máté Lachegyi joined the band, also on piano, for the Jazz Showcase, wowing the judges.
Barnabás Négyessy - guitar
Máté Lachegyi, Bálint Banyó - piano
Brúnó Barakonyi - double bass
Adonisz Fábry - drums
