Ripoff Raskolnikov began his musical career at the age of 18, traveling around Europe as a street musician. Initially attracted to European folk music, he was later influenced by American folk songwriting styles, inspired by musicians such as Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, and the Rolling Stones. He made his Hungarian debut in November 1987 and has since given countless concerts in Hungary, where he now calls home.
The Ripoff Raskolnikov Band is one of the most prominent Hungarian representatives of the Americana style, which uniquely combines blues, folk, and singer-songwriter genres. Raskolnikov has been living in Hungary for nearly 30 years and is a renowned songwriter who speaks English at a native level, while his band consists of the finest musicians in the genre. The band regularly releases studio albums, which are gaining increasing international attention. The albums Small Worlds and Odds and Ends have received significant acclaim, and the Ripoff Raskolnikov Band is now one of the finest acts on the Hungarian music scene.
