Bujdosó János - Sorry, but yes (album, 2023)

After twenty years, Bujdosó's solo album is back, only this time it won't be sad and depressing, but, somewhat surprisingly, light and EASY.

Schedule

Just like the 2003 album Yolk of Freedom, this album is based on the composer's film scores, but the material goes beyond the musical function used, the moods have been transformed into songs, so that the pieces - as the composer intended - stand on their own, without images. Bujdosó are used to putting totally unusual, crossover material on the table, and their last Bujdosó Trio album, Távolodó, was described by László Marton as "very fresh, unclassifiable in the best sense, without precedent, so to speak".

Well, this new album is not exactly like that.

"Stilted", you could say, and let's say it, too, on the opening track "Partisan". The first movement is an extended version of the surf-rock theme song "Friday Night Partisan" by Marci Gulyás - the permanent author-host of which is the surfer-rock theme song of his band Bujdosó, the following "Happy New Ear" grooves soulfully and afrosan, "Every Happy Postcard" caresses with French flavours in the manner of the 60s, while "Troll Bossa" rolls in the spirit of our father Charlie Mingus. Pretty much everything on the album is played by multi-instrumentalist Bujdosó, sometimes even the saxophone, but sometimes you can expect guests (drums, winds) to turn up, because you really need the bashav to play the monster complicated arrangements our man has invented. It's a special treat that the album will be performed by a "mini big band" formed especially for the occasion, so invest in Bujdosó's new album Sorry, but yes and come to the album launch, your spiritual edification is guaranteed by this time, a "cavalcade" of genres!
