"For almost a year now, I have been experimenting with the extended possibilities of the piano, with its preparation. In November 2022, at ISON, Péter Kiss performed a solo recital of Off-bea(u)ty, a short piano piece in one movement, which was then still in one movement. The preparation, which included detailed and non-traditional elements and timbres, inspired me to create a half-concert suite of the piece, which, although undeniably drawing from jazz in its rhythms and phrasing, is contemporary music without improvisation. In parallel with composing, I ventured into the world of modern jazz and discovered unique sounds that opened up new avenues in modern jazz, in terms of improvisation, composition and orchestration. " - Krisztián Oláh In the first half of the show, the Off-bea(u)ty cycle will be performed in its entirety by Péter Kiss, followed by compositions and improvisations on prepared piano in the second half, with Krisztián Oláh and Veronika Harcsa.
