Budapesti nők olvasókör

2024-03-19T17:30:00.000Z

We are launching a new reading circle called Budapest Women, where we will explore the relationship between women and the capital through a classic or contemporary work.

Who were the women who left their mark on the city? What are the typical women's spaces, what rules have long governed women, and how have these rules been tried to be broken down and relaxed over the years? Who have been the invisible movers and shakers of everyday life, the dominant female artists and creators, the real and fictional femme fatale and very visible heroes of the city?

Schedule

Can we talk about solidarity between women in the light of the historical and social changes of the last 150 years? These and similar questions will be addressed in the Budapest Women's Reading Group, where we will be diving into the history of the city and the women who live in it with a different book each month.

Our third reading will be Krisztina Tóth's novel Akvárium.

The reading circle is led by Orsolya Ruff and Kata Szeder.

Location

Tompa17

The Tompa17 book café is special because it's a bit like stepping into the living room of a friend, who gives you a coffee and a sandwich, and a book to read.
