Táncház: Gáska
Népzene és néptánc mindenkinek

Schedule
The free “Dance House in the Open Air” series continues this year on the Zene Háza Open-Air Stage from May through September, with Gáska providing the music this time.
In Moldavia, the word “gáska” refers to a band or a group of friends; the band’s name alludes to the unifying power of making music together. They are passionate about authentically interpreting Csángó folk music: they rely primarily on authentic forms and seek out the original flavors. Their playing style is infused with the hallmarks of role models such as Bogdan Toader, András Hodorog, and Ioan Antim, yet they bring this music into the present with an experimental spirit, infusing it with their own energy. They evoke the original ideas of Moldavian musicians through their performance style. The melodies they perform are often linked to personal experiences and encounters; they infuse these sounds with those emotions, bringing them to life.
"We regularly perform at Moldavian dance houses, mainly in Budapest. Our dance houses are characterized by a lively and energetic atmosphere. Our goal is to revive the joy of the past and to keep alive the unifying power of dancing together, moving in a circle as one.
These occasions give us space to connect with the dancers; through the relationship between music and dance, what is important to us comes to life: presence, emotion, dynamics, and emphasis.
We are energized by our connection with the dancers, just as they are energized by the joy of dancing to live music.”
