▶︎ INSTART PICNIC – On the year’s second-to-last night, at Instant

A picnic isn’t a meal — it’s more like a slow breath filling the city’s chest.

A place where the rhythm finds you before you find it, and by the time you notice, you’re already swaying with it, like someone switched off gravity just to make nodding easier.

That’s what InStart Picnic offers: an evening where music isn’t background — it’s company.

Warm up:

▪︎ Lil 404 – Lil 404, or just 404, is the newest, freshest and perhaps the loudest voice in Hungarian hip-hop (and definitely the baldest head). He’s busy scribbling his way into the big leagues — he’s already won the Jägermeister Hangadó, the Fülesbagoly BEAT, and, hopefully, more and more people’s hearts (he wrote, hopefully). They say his live shows make for unforgettable nights; if you like good music, a touch of stand-up, and muscular bald men (2 out of 3 are true), then see you at the next 404 concert!

▪︎ Szunyog Tess – her vibrations are so tiny that you only notice them late: they’re already buzzing inside you. Every one of her beats feels like a quiet poetic question: you feel it too, right? She appeared barely a year ago, yet with her intimate, sometimes melancholic sound and head-nodding grooves, she’s become one of the most exciting new voices in the Hungarian hip-hop scene. Her songs blur the lines between old and new school, day and night, joy and sorrow.

▪︎ Varangyék – Ádó and Ice G are two peaceful creatures who twist words for fun the way Tuco Salamanca twists crystal. Their favourite food is flies resting on old-school beats. They’re camouflaged, but above all they love crunchy samples, booms and croaks wrapped in the chaotic melody of birdsong in nature’s gentle lap. In spring, summer, autumn — in wind, rain, sunshine — you’ll find them hanging in the fields rapping; in winter they roam the sewers. They’ll be on stage too, ready to yank your necks around. This trio lays down an atmosphere so distinctive it feels like someone opened a window and suddenly fresh air and strange wisdom rush in.

▪︎ Then the night rolls on with Gently Da Spittah’s full-band proclamation. Gently is the kind of performer who seems to stroke softly — and then suddenly you realise the lyrics are knocking between your ribs. This time he arrives with a full band, a supergroup by his side. You’ll cry. He doesn’t attack — he wraps around you, and you only notice when it already feels good.

▪︎ Open mic – where the stage is an invitation, not a task. At the end comes the part where the stage isn’t a fixture, but an opportunity. The classic open mic, where anyone can step up and write a line into the night’s story. No professional jury. No squared notebook. The audience decides — and somehow it always finds the rhythm where the truth lives.
