Dutch pianist Joep Beving is one of the most listened to pianists in the world - he has nearly two and a half million listeners on Spotify every month - and his compositions are a fusion of contemporary classical music with pop and subtle jazz approaches. His most recent album, the 2022 LP Hermetism, released on Deutsche Grammophon, is a musical philosophizing.

Beving studied music from a young age, dabbling in various genres (he studied jazz, played drums in a rock band, studied piano at a conservatory, and made electronic music as a hobby), but for various reasons, all of these were interrupted at some point, but music eventually found its way into Beving's life, albeit rather late, in his late thirties.

After some exhaustion, he started playing the piano again for therapeutic purposes, and it was then that everything came together for him to give himself over to music and release his songs. At the same time, he composed a memorial song for the death of a close friend, which he recorded at the request of the friend's family, and this led to the material for his first full-length album.

Solipsism, released in 2015, was an unexpected hit on Spotify, after which he was signed by Deutsche Grammophon, one of the most important classical music labels, where he has already released four albums. His compositions blur the boundaries of genre, featuring ambient-jazz-contemporary music that often results in a transcendent live experience for performers and listeners alike.
